Hello World from Ray!

In the year 2000, when I was only ten years old and trying to learn q-basic programming language from a book (yes—people actually learned programming from books back then), the very first command I encountered was:

					PRINT "Hello, world!"

That simple line opened a door to a new world for me—a wonderland of computers that eventually led me to electrical engineering. I felt like Alice in Wonderland, discovering unknown paths, learning constantly, and enjoying the process of building things from scratch. That’s why, when I decided to start this blog, there was no better way to begin than with:

					PRINT "Hello, world!"

Over the years, I’ve built many things. Some turned into businesses with real financial value; others existed purely to satisfy my curiosity. But one thing has always remained constant: I genuinely enjoy creating new things and solving new problems.

That mindset shaped one of the biggest decisions of my life. When I sold my equity in EvTech—a company I co-founded, grew to over $1M in annual revenue, and scaled to more than 20 employees—and immigrated to Canada, I didn’t see it as a sad story driven by political circumstances in my beloved country. I saw it as a new challenge.

The weight of an established business, a well-known personal brand, and an extensive network was replaced by something lighter and more powerful: freedom. Freedom to start again. Freedom to explore. Freedom to build in a new environment. My curiosity took over, and once again, I felt like that ten-year-old Ray—ready to learn, experiment, and create.

This blog is my way of documenting that journey and sharing what I’ve learned along the way. It’s for people who are curious, who enjoy learning, and who feel alive when they’re building something new. I’m especially interested in connecting with like-minded individuals—those with a fighter’s spirit and a deep passion for creating.

If you’re reading this, know that it was written at a moment when I had immense energy and excitement to start over in a new country. I’m here with hope, curiosity, and a willingness to share the lessons I’ve learned over the past three decades. If you see yourself as someone willing to fight for your dreams, I’d be more than happy to connect and have a conversation.

Welcome to the journey.

Best regards,
Ray Ghorani
